Venezuelan-American pianist, composer, singer, and educator, Eugenia Méndez holds a degree in Piano Performance and Teaching from the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, Germany. Her work bridges classical traditions with Latin American popular and academic music, with a strong Venezuelan focus, interpreting composers, rhythms, and musical expressions rooted in the Venezuelan tradition while offering a deeply personal interpretation of her cultural heritage.

Eugenia has composed music for children and all ages, developed innovative educational materials, and promoted regional and contemporary Latin American sounds through performance, composition, and teaching. Her creative output also includes contemporary music influenced by traditional Venezuelan rhythms and expressive forms, integrating these elements into original works that dialogue with classical, jazz, popular and folklore. Her artistic practice is rooted in interdisciplinarity, collaboration, and the creation of meaningful artistic experiences for diverse audiences.

Her discography includes Afinidades (1999), Inner Rhythm (2002), Embrase-moi (2004), Mirando al Sur (2010), and Sale el Sol (2021), a children’s musical story. Her most recent album, Sale el Sol y Miniaturas Infantiles (2024), features original works for piano and voice, expanding her catalog of music for young audiences and families. She has also contributed to film projects and jazz productions as composer and performer.

Among her current artistic projects is Eugenia Méndez Venezuelan Fusion, an ongoing musical project that explores contemporary Venezuelan identity through original compositions and new arrangements. In this project, Eugenia is currently collaborating with master musicians Miguel Siso, Mario Carrillo, and Elvis Martínez, blending Venezuelan roots with jazz, classical, and world music languages in live performance settings.

She is also co-developing Obra Parlante, an interdisciplinary artistic project together with visual artist Gustavo Méndez-Liska. Obra Parlante brings together live painting and music, featuring original musical works composed by Eugenia Méndez in direct dialogue with the visual creation process. The project further expands into the editing and publication of art books and illustrated musical storybooks, integrating Gustavo Méndez-Liska’s visual artwork with Eugenia’s compositions and narratives, creating immersive experiences that merge sound, image, and storytelling.

In early 2025, Eugenia was commissioned by the Miami Children’s Chorus to recompose Sale el Sol for choir, piano, and flute, reaffirming her commitment to inclusive, creative music and to fostering artistic experiences for children, families, and intergenerational audiences.
